Wed, 25 February 2009 ![]() The cast and creator of the Vampire Cowboys Theatre Company's new Off Broadway production, Soul Samurai, join us for a wine induced and fun filled evening. What's Soul Samurai about? Cooler than Kill Bill, hotter than Shaft! Soul Samurai is the story of Dewdrop and her fight through the mean streets of a post-apocalyptic Brooklyn. After avenging her lover’s murder in the heart of Coney Island, Dewdrop now must make it back home to the Lower East Side before the shoguns of Kings County find her. In a play that mixes hip-hop culture, blaxploitation, and the martial arts, this production dials it back old school with this seventies-inspired samurai story. This is one slick slice with a sharp sword and a score to settle! How's that for an enticing description? Jimmy saw the show and loved it. Joe plans on seeing it soon. Listen to the cast talk about acting, inspirations for the show, movies, TV, comics, music, fight choreography, accidents, and more. We also give them a nerdy musical quiz to test their geek fu. episode, Eisner highlights and more! Jimmy gives his epic recap of the
show babbling on and on about interviews and drinking or both. Of
course, tons of name dropping. Joe curses Jimmy for all of the editing
he will have to do now, but is glad he got some good coverage.

Big, long show (sorry!) with interviews galore and new music!
The Heroes Con recap includes interviews with Leanne Hannah, Mike
Maihack, and Adam Withers/Comfort Love. Hear about the strip club
debauchery, a happy Iron Giant-ed nephew, dubs, hotness, podcast panel
and more. News includes a touching story about a dying girl's last wish
to see Up, the launch of Rantz Hosely's Longbox project, TCAF and a new JLA creative team.
It's another One-Shot! and this time we're promoting the new anthology

In our second installment of VERSUS!,
it's A History of Violence vs. A History of Violence.
We
cover it all from the original graphic novel by John Wagner and Vince
Locke to the stunning film directed by David Cronenberg and starring

We say good-bye to one of our favorite shows, Battlestar Galactica.
The series finale of the re-imagined series aired last Friday so we
gather a round table of friends to mourn, remember and celebrate.
Fellow fans Abby Marcus and Qui Nguyen are in studio with us, and Kim
Lay joins us via Skype. We discuss our thoughts on the finale, favorite
characters, the writing staff, music, the impact of the series, and so
much more. Tune in to agree and/or disagree, but mostly to share in the
love for one of the greatest TV shows ever, Battlestar Galactica. SO SAY WE ALL!!!
We've talked about it for over a year and it's finally here. It's our special VERSUS! show. A round table discussion where we take a comic book and explore the other mediums that the story is represented in. In this very first episode, it's Death Note vs. Death Note vs. Death Note. We cover it all from the original hit manga to the animated series to the live action films. Joe moderates the round table consisting of Jimmy, in studio guests Mike Cho and Carrie Tucker (I Love Geeks author), and Richard McAuliffe (calling in from Wales). Join us as we break down each medium in 15 minute increments and end with a compare/contrast of each. Which did we like best? And what would we do if we had our very own Death Note? Tune in to find out! VERSUS! is a new monthly show that we will be doing in addition to the regular weekly episodes of Comic News Insider. As with our special One-Shot! episodes, these will be numbered and part of the offical CNI canon.
