Wed, 25 February 2009 ![]() The cast and creator of the Vampire Cowboys Theatre Company's new Off Broadway production, Soul Samurai, join us for a wine induced and fun filled evening. What's Soul Samurai about? Cooler than Kill Bill, hotter than Shaft! Soul Samurai is the story of Dewdrop and her fight through the mean streets of a post-apocalyptic Brooklyn. After avenging her lover’s murder in the heart of Coney Island, Dewdrop now must make it back home to the Lower East Side before the shoguns of Kings County find her. In a play that mixes hip-hop culture, blaxploitation, and the martial arts, this production dials it back old school with this seventies-inspired samurai story. This is one slick slice with a sharp sword and a score to settle! How's that for an enticing description? Jimmy saw the show and loved it. Joe plans on seeing it soon. Listen to the cast talk about acting, inspirations for the show, movies, TV, comics, music, fight choreography, accidents, and more. We also give them a nerdy musical quiz to test their geek fu. Jimmy's back from his epic journey to San Diego Comic-Con. Joe stayed
back home with the kids. Over 5 hours of recording to release and we do
it all here! No, no. But, we do play interviews with Felicia Day (Dr. Horrible's Sing-A-Long Blog, The Guild) and Olivia Munn (G4TV's Attack of the Show). We also get the tail end of a roundtable discussion with Joss Whedon and Eliza Dushku for Dollhouse. We do some quick news headlines from the con including Doctor Who being recognized by Guinness Book of World Records, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies graphic novel, Avengers film line up, Justice League comic line up, Marvel gets rights to Marvelman, John Cassaday to direct Dollhouse
episode, Eisner highlights and more! Jimmy gives his epic recap of the
show babbling on and on about interviews and drinking or both. Of
course, tons of name dropping. Joe curses Jimmy for all of the editing
he will have to do now, but is glad he got some good coverage.

Big, long show (sorry!) with interviews galore and new music!
The Heroes Con recap includes interviews with Leanne Hannah, Mike
Maihack, and Adam Withers/Comfort Love. Hear about the strip club
debauchery, a happy Iron Giant-ed nephew, dubs, hotness, podcast panel
and more. News includes a touching story about a dying girl's last wish
to see Up, the launch of Rantz Hosely's Longbox project, TCAF and a new JLA creative team.
It's another One-Shot! and this time we're promoting the new anthology

In our second installment of VERSUS!,
it's A History of Violence vs. A History of Violence.
We
cover it all from the original graphic novel by John Wagner and Vince
Locke to the stunning film directed by David Cronenberg and starring
Viggo Mortensen, Maria Bello, Ed Harris and William Hurt. The round
table consists of your familiar hosts Jimmy and Joe, along with comic newbie Lenae McKee and comic journalist and

We say good-bye to one of our favorite shows, Battlestar Galactica.
The series finale of the re-imagined series aired last Friday so we
gather a round table of friends to mourn, remember and celebrate.
Fellow fans Abby Marcus and Qui Nguyen are in studio with us, and Kim
Lay joins us via Skype. We discuss our thoughts on the finale, favorite
characters, the writing staff, music, the impact of the series, and so
much more. Tune in to agree and/or disagree, but mostly to share in the
love for one of the greatest TV shows ever, Battlestar Galactica. SO SAY WE ALL!!!
We've talked about it for over a year and it's finally here. It's our special VERSUS! show. A round table discussion where we take a comic book and explore the other mediums that the story is represented in. In this very first episode, it's Death Note vs. Death Note vs. Death Note. We cover it all from the original hit manga to the animated series to the live action films. Joe moderates the round table consisting of Jimmy, in studio guests Mike Cho and Carrie Tucker (I Love Geeks author), and Richard McAuliffe (calling in from Wales). Join us as we break down each medium in 15 minute increments and end with a compare/contrast of each. Which did we like best? And what would we do if we had our very own Death Note? Tune in to find out! VERSUS! is a new monthly show that we will be doing in addition to the regular weekly episodes of Comic News Insider. As with our special One-Shot! episodes, these will be numbered and part of the offical CNI canon.

The Podcaster traveled to the City of Angels to visit the set of Pushing Daisies
while co-host Joe stayed home to watch the kids. Afterwards, The
Podcaster trekked down to the fabled San Diego Comic-Con. Hear the many
tales of fancy with creator/producer Bryan Fuller and cast members
Kristin Chenoweth, Ellen Greene, Swoosie Kurtz and Field Cate. The
Podcaster will never be the same.
It's our big SDCC recap in front of a live studio audience. There's BBQ and drinking and special studio guest Julio Soto. Remember him? (Go back to episode 1). Jimmy went to San Diego Comic-Con while Joe stayed home with the kids. As you can imagine, Jimmy drank most of the time but still somehow covered a lot of the convention. Marvel at his day by day coverage that always ended (and sometimes started) with drinking. The podcast panel, the parties, the panels, the prostitutes...it's all there! Interviews include Kevin Pereira (Attack of the Show), Howard Shum (Gun Fu), Josh Friedman (The Sarah Connor Chronicles) and Josh Schwartz (Chuck). More to be had in our special Pushing Daisies One-Shot this weekend! And even more next week with Tony Lee (Hope Falls, Doctor Who: The Forgotten), Kevin Conn (Unemployed Skeletor) and Jay Glatfelter (The Lost Podcast with Jay & Jack).
It's another Mini episode or "Minisode" since Jimmy is out in LA while Joe holds down the fort back in NYC. No reviews or interviews, but some news headlines. Discussion includes The Dark Knight, San Diego Comic-Con and a visit to the Pushing Daisies set.

Jimmy sat down with the hilarious, generous, and awesome Nathan Fillion for a lengthy interview covering his career from One Life to Live to Firefly to Lost and even his recent stint on Desperate Housewives.
They also talk about some of his current work on it's way out and the
pilot he is shooting here in NYC. They go over some proper fan
etiquette, try to remember if they met back in 1994, and Nathan gives
some great advice to all of you struggling actors out there. Again,
many thanks to Nathan for taking the time and for just being an overall
nice and gracious guy!

No reviews this week since there's so much Bristol goodness to
cover!Jimmy's knackered, but he's back! Joe explains his absence last
week as well. It's Jimmy's first trip across the pond to the UK and
Wales and he loved it! Mmmmm.....beans and toast!!! He gives his full
recap and you're not gonna want to miss a bit. Interviews from Bristol
include Paul Cornell joining in to discuss his writing on Doctor Who, Robin Hood and upcoming Captain Britain book for Marvel. Also, Leah Moore and John Reppion (Raise the Dead, Albion) hang out to talk zombies, writing process and more. Listener feedback, Top 3
