Episode 702 - SDCC Recap w/ Raina Telgemeier/John Layman/Jeffrey Brown/Dr. Andrea Letamendi!

Jimmy was at San Diego Comic Con and all we got was this lousy t-shirt! It was a crazy busy time and he covered a ton of press rooms from Orphan Black to Supergirl to The Walking Dead. He also had a chance to do some 1:1s. You'll hear him chat with the awesome Raina Telgemeier about her upcoming graphic novel, Ghosts, as well as her past work. Jimmy talked to Jeffrey Brown about the first book in his new series Lucy and Andy Neanderthal. He also talked to old buddy John Layman about the Predator vs Judge Dredd vs Aliens comic he's writing as well as wrapping up his big hit Chew. And finally, you can sit in on Jimmy's annual therapy session...uh...interview with psychologist friend Dr. Andrea Letamendi. They talk about the psychology of some recent superhero films and more! No news or reviews or Top 3 in this episode as he's still recovering from it all. But you get a quick recap with some highlights!

Over the next few weeks, there wont be a regular format show. You'll get a lot of special episodes covering the press rooms for Arrow, Animaniacs, Agents of SHIELD, The, Flash, Gotham, Supergirl, The Walking Dead, iZombie, Justice League: Action, The Powerpuff Girls, We Bare Bears, Teen Titans Go, Legends of Tomorrow, Orphan Black, Rick and Morty, Riverdale, Steven Universe, and Wynonna Earp. Special thanks to Kelly Bedard of My Entertainment World for partnering up and covering some of the rooms that Jimmy couldn't cover.

Episode 701 - No Sleep til SDCC!

Reviews: Kong of Skull Island #1, New Super-Man #1, Powerpuff Girls Vol 3 #1, Ghostbusters

No rest for the podcaster! The epic 700th episode went down last week and now it's off to San Diego for Comic Con! Because of all the mad planning and prepping, Jimmy does a quickie solo episode to let you know what his media coverage/plans are for this year's SDCC. He recruits some friends to do some mp3 reviews for him so it's not entirely all Jimmy all the time. You're welcome! Thanks to Rich, Emily, Monica and John for sending their audio reviews in. News includes: a new Jessica Jones comic is coming from Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Gaydos, DC/Vertigo is bringing a comic book sequel to the 1987 film The Lost Boys, Betty Boop returns to comic books via Dynamite Entertainment, Dark Horse announces more adult coloring books including Star Trek and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Bryan Lee O'Malley has a new graphic novel trilogy coming your way.

Jimmy will do an SDCC recap next week and will probably just release SDCC specials for 2-3 weeks to catch up on life. So, no regular format podcast for at a bit. Hope you enjoy all the massive coverage he's going to get! And if you see him out there, say "hi"!

Episode 700 w/ Michael Emerson/Carrie Preston/Fred Van Lente/Kate Rigg/Lyris Hung/Miss Lasko-Gross/Vera Greentea/Rafael Kayanan!

Reviews: Bounty #1, The Flintstones #1, Kim & Kim #1, Throwaways #1

It was some last minute negotiating/planning, but Jimmy and Producer Joe were able to pull off an 11th hour anniversary episode! We gathered at the wee early hour of 12pm on Sunday at Adella wine bar (410 w. 43rd St) here in NYC. Thanks to Adella for hosting! Swing on by if you're ever in NYC. Big thanks to special guests Michael Emerson, Carrie Preston, Fred Van Lente, Kate Rigg and Lyris Hung. And big ups to last minute drive-by guests that Jimmy called up: Miss Lasko-Gross, Vera Greentea and Rafael Kayanan. Of course, since it's an anniversary episode, there was plenty of singing. Couldn't have done it without the awesome CNI Chorus consisting of Rachel Felstein, Kristen French, James Rodriguez, Tony Wolf, Emmy Potter, and Amy Wolk. Thanks to all whom attended as well! We brought  back the "10 words or less" reviews and even covered some news in between. News included: a new Iron Man is coming and she's a young black female named Riri Williams, John Cho says we'll learn his character Sulu is gay in the upcoming Star Trek Beyond, Genndy Tartakovsky's Luke Cage mini-series is finally coming to Marvel, Mondo is releasing an Over the Garden Wall vinyl album, and DC is bringing you a He-Man and the Masters of the Universe/Thundercats mini-series in October.

Michael Emerson talks about the Person of Interest finale and interesting fan encounters, Carrie Preston talks about her time on The Good Wife and True Blood and has great advice for young actors, Kate Rigg and Lyris Hung do an awesome nerdy spoken word improv, Fred Van Lente talks about some of his current/upcoming work like Weird Detective and Generation Zero, Miss Lask0-Gross discusses The Sweetness, Vera Greentea talks about her recent 9th successful Kickstarter for a new comic she's writing (more Nenetl of the Forgotten Spirits) and Rafael Kayanan talks about his upcoming TV work.
